Hi DMB
Again you assert that Rorty embraces a subject-object
metaphysics, I'd just like to confirm that you have not
convinced me.
DMB: Pirsig's idea of truth is specifically intellectual static quality.
DM: I take the construction of abstract static patterns as being
a creative activity. I assume this has to be done via the medium of a
language.
I guess this has to end up with all the consequences that are associated
with
Rorty and post-modernism. Nice to have you on board DMB, welcome to
the club. Mind you as more of a critical realist myself I think that the
construction
of abstract static patterns can also be used to re-examine our experience
and attempt
to involve nature/Being in a question and answer dialogue, with a lot of
critical worry
about the problem that nature/Being is being asked to answer in a language
we have
constructed.
regards
David M
