    Nathan...
    you say: String theory
    > postulates that all matter and all radiation
    > (photons, heat etc) is composed
    > of vibrating strings of energy. That, these strings,
    > are the ultimate
    > reality; the strings vibrate in 11 dimensions. Since
    > we can't imagine 11
    > dimensions, is it fair to say that only 4 dimensions
    > exist and the strings
    > are unreal?

    August says:
Just because you can't imagine it doesn't mean it
isn't real. It seems this is more an idenity problem
    than anything.....

then you wrote.. try to follow me here..

    you say:
    >It wasn't designed to see eleven
    >dimensions but was designed to perceive three
    >dimensions.

August says in his first email....
...You can imagine that I am human.. but can you
imagine what I look like for sure??..

further.. where I will be after this email is done..
what I am doin while I write this.. for examples..
    that you can't know all..just pieces...mystery..

I'm not saying that you can definatly imagine 11..but
that 4 is not the limit.. at least from my
experiences.. and that idenity is static.. not
    dynamic..

    August exclaims!!!
..so... evolve... humans have this ability better than
any other creature.. EVOLVE!!!.. CHANGE!! FOLLOW DQ!!!

    you say:
    > It was designed to understand cause and effect but
    > not designed to
    > understand the purpose of life.

    August says:
this seems to me non sequitor... why does there have
to be a purpose to life? Who the hell said there
was?!?!...that has nothing to do with imagining 11
dimensions.. knowledge of strings wouldn't end
mystery..nor would "imagining" them... segue to next
    point->

    you say:
    > Religious people feel spiritual while praying.
    > Others, like me, feel some
    > sense of mystery and awe while watching things like
    > the NOVA program on
    > STRING THEORY or reading some science or philosophy.

    August says:
why does any sense of mystery have to end when you
imagine beyond ...imagining string theory I doubt is
the end of mystery.. if you can only imagine 4 why
would you assume that dimensions end at 11.. we can
still get pieces of the pie from the 11 with the
4...this is a new theory...its hardly withstood the
    test of time...

why would the mystery end?.. it didn't end at the
discovery of gravity... or the knowledge that the sun
is the center of the solar system.. it didn't end when
humans wrongly predicted that the sun was the center
of the universe.. or the earth the center..

    Hegel's dialectic.. with synthesis..comes antithesis..
and then sysnthesis.. then antithesis..mystery never
ends!...existence, and idenity move on... they
    evolve.. they follow dynamic quality!!!

I ain't saying get rid of mystery... I'm saying..
there will be another mystery to come.. and solving
this piece of the pie could help us.. new forms of
energy or, space travel, or.... whatever???( there's
    a mystery here).....
Who says that what we use this theory for is its
purpose? Why would imagining a new vision end
mystery?.. that seems much more mysterious than living
in a 4 sided box....11 sides.. so much could happen..

    Thoughts?

    -August
