Why do you say we are not a democracy? How are you defining it? I would
distinguish capital "D" Democracy--a collection of value patterns--from
small 'd' democracy--voting on an issue with the understanding that the
majority opinion will be carried out (a more specific pattern of value).

Capitalism is an economic system, while Democracy is a system of government.
Communism is both. Under the versions of communism that we've seen
practiced in history, the people don't get to voice their preferences
freely.
