Hi August ,
Thanks for the input :-)
between your ramblings and my ramblings....
..you should see me when I'm drunk..
Seems to me that some good thinkin' is done in this mindset, no?
That part in the book your referring to, is when he talks about his
fanatacism in teaching, making an analogy of a fool preaching that the sun
will rise, knowing that it will rise the next day, as it has done since its
formation. Being within the church of reason. He was only so fanatic in
teaching his way, because he knew that the next day, the world would still
be the same. Perserverance to insanity and beyond (super-sane).
This brings me to another question I've been thinking about for
awhile....whether or not you would call that different mindset insane, or is
it really sane, and we, the insane? I mean, Pirsig went really nuts, and
lost his control, but that was most likely due to the fact that he was alone
, and no one was willing(faith) to understand.
This faith, is one which differs drastically from that of religion.
I can make the analogy , from my history of experience.
Such as, trusting the person I was going to buy a motorcycle from.
Many people cautioned me "careful...you could get screwed...dont trust him"
sort of deal, but after numerous correspondances, I got the feeling that I
could trust him. I did, and I was not screwed, and he was a very kind man.
sincerely.
God really is the whole package. I have often thought of it, as a crutch ,
or perhaps a stepping stone (depending on your outlook) , easing the ability
to strive for greater quality in life. However, there are the majority, who
hide behind religion for a release from what they do wrong. Confess your
sins. Different in every religion, but every religion is abused. Jesus
was a pacifist, and yet we have countless wars between jews , christians,
catholics, muslims, hindu, seek, tutsi, and hutu......the list never ends.
Anyways, its late.
