    Hi Marsha,
It would be good to hear some feedback from you. I've responded to a number
of your posts but you don't let me know how you view them? It would be great to
    hear from you.

    But now to this post...
Chomsky is creating quite a stir here, this is plain to see!
I have recently begun reading his primary texts, and am thinking about things
as i go along. I don't want to say anything until i have gathered some
    experience of the issues.
However, i feel i can say one thing right now: I am reading.

The MOQ can be applied to Chomsky's work. And i agree with you when you
suggest there are many truths, but the basis for the MOQ is value; it is value i am
primarily concerned with. If one views Chomsky's arena of research in value
terms, we may dispense with truth altogether, for truth is a species of the
    Good.
The MOQ insists that Intellectual Quality has moral force over Social
Quality, and as the MOQ itself is high Intellectual Quality, it is with the MOQ that
    Chomsky's work should be assessed.

Nihilism is not compatible with the MOQ.
A metaphysics which is essentially valuist cannot be nihilistic!

So why is there so much apparent disagreement in the forum? For example:
Platt uses the MOQ to defend the invasion of Iraq.
    Mark H suggests otherwise.
    Why?

Platt's argument is solid and of high value in an abstract sense: The US is a
promoter of democracy. Democracy is Intellectual Quality. Therefore it is
good for this pattern to dominate society.

If this were so, the MOQ agrees with Platt. But there is a great deal of
evidence indicating the US is not concerned with promoting democracy either in
other countries, and more disturbingly, in its own media.

If democracy is severely undermined by elite social interests (value
preferences), then the MOQ clearly indicates Intellectual Quality is being undermined
in favour of social patterning. This is immoral.

The heated debate occurs when Platt disputes evidence which suggests the US
is not a promoter of democracy. Why does Platt feel so sure the evidence can be
    disputed?
The answer is disturbing and clear: The US intellectual elite is poor
Quality; it is part of a social pattern which resists high standards of intellectual
    enquiry.

Now we are approaching the white heat of the matter; the very intense source
of friction between social and intellectual patterns battling for moral
supremacy. It is vital Marsha that intellectual patterns prevail. The MOQ is clear
    about this.

So, please do not be deterred by the aggression of this debate Marsha? This
is the front line, and it gets very very dangerous when two colossal value
systems collide head on like this. Be open and aware of this please? Don't let it
get you down? This is where creativity is at work, or should be! And that is
exhilarating, depressing, exciting, shocking and Dynamic!
    Hold on for the ride...

    All the best,
    Mark
