    Hi all,

I've changed the subject, and will end this post with a question
about variations in human traits, and how this might be discussed in
relation to the MOQ. But first...

    ph:
They base their argument on genetic differences. Why else would they
begin by saying "Evidence from the analysis of genetics . . ." They
also apply the percentages directly to genes as in the phrase, " . .
in about 6% of their genes."

    msh says:
All humans have the same genes. There are different versions of many
genes, called alleles. For example, while most people have genes
which give them colored eyes, there are multiple alleles for specific
eye colors. Each person has particular combination of alleles for
eye color, for hair color, skin pigmentation, etc., which makes him
or her genetically unique. This is the genetic variation that is
    being discussed.

Chimps and humans DO NOT have the same genes, though they do have
many genes in common, approximately 98.5%.

It is this that Platt and Vogel don't (or won't) understand.

Has anyone read anything in Pirsig that might suggest that one "race"
of humans is higher or lower than another in the moral hierarchy?

    Best to all,
    Mark Steven Heyman (msh)
