There is something in your post which I haven't addressed. I answered
the claim that the MOQ is solipsistic but not the point that you think
makes it solipsistic.
Ham said:
Are we to accept the idea that man (whose essence is Quality) is judging
and acting upon a reality that is his own essence?
Paul:
First, the use of the term "essence" causes me problems because it seems
to point to something unchanging, so when you say the "essence of man is
Quality," whether I agree or not depends on what you mean by "essence."
Second, in the MOQ, man is not outside of reality judging and acting
upon it. Both "man" and "his reality" arise together through the
activity of "judgement," or evaluation i.e. Quality. This type of
understanding - dependent arising - is common in Eastern philosophy but
I hesitate to use the terms as it goes against the grain of a "western
mind."
So, I think the answer to your question is that "man and his reality"
are indeed essentially the same, but neither has existential priority,
as both arise together, therefore "man's reality" is not reduced to
"man," or his essential self, which would be solipsism. Both are reduced
to something which is neither.
More "word games," no doubt.
Paul
