As for our current religious terrorproblems, I have no doubt that

technology will always triumph over religious fundamentalists. Thank
God.

You are right. In a world ruled by violence, the most violent will
rule. And capitalism and technological superiority affords the
greatest level of violence the world has ever seen
But you don't have to wait 20 years to see what Iraq will be like,
once the most violent have come out on top. Just take a look at El
Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, countries who, in the 80's sought for
themselves a different way of organizing their societies, a way that
would slightly realign the resources of their countries so as to
prevent brutal poverty for so many and such great wealth for so few,
a way not approved and therefore crushed in the cradle by the most
violent nation on earth, resulting in the deaths of 100,000 people
who desired nothing more out of life than an acre of arable land.
Today, levels of poverty in Central America are higher than they have
ever been, while the wealthy are fewer and wealthier than ever.
Yes, violence will always triumph in a world ruled by violence. But
it's hard to imagine that someone would see in this miserable fact
something to be proud of, something to be thankful for.
