"mysticism" to refer to something else entirely. In fact, my tradition

it."
DMB,
Can you define "mainstream" vs "fundamentalist" vs "whatever other kind you
think there is" Xtianity 4 me? esp. the "most common" understanding of these
terms according to the consensus of this forum, or as you say Sam, Pirsig
and Campbell might. I know consensus might be a stumbling block. I guess you
are saying that "those in charge of Xtianity" don't acknowledge mysticism as
"real"? Who are those "mainstream" folks.
Personally, because I am an American, Xtianity *is* my culture, whether I
accept it or not, whether I buy into or not, whether I *believe* it or not.
I am seeped in Xtianity, colored by it, tossed and turned within its many
varients, of which I believe there are multitudes. And for my experience,
there is much mysticism about. If you are saying it is not codified, perhaps
it is because it cannot be, same as quality.
