Is there a "Q-force" which holds certain things , while letting others slip away into an infinite spiral of degeneration? Sort of the same 'Q-force' which makes us naturally inclined towards the Quality in life, before we place social or intellectual restrictions on them.
An idea...
Your thoughts?

Charles: If by 'Q-force' you mean Quality itself, my answer is that I don't know what Quality is, in essense. I mean 'goodness' or 'betterness' separated from whatever one would attach them to. Although Pirsig does not directly say this, to my understanding he implies degeneracy occurs when there is a social movement by patterns of value other than Dynamic Quality itself. Although.. that doesn't quite sound right either. Even though, according to Pirsig, the Hippie movement eventually failed because of its confusion of DQ and biological quality, I highly doubt it started out that way. This is a source of confusion for me. It's the essense of my original question about DQ and degeneracy... How does one fall off the Dynamic wave and end up being driven by other patterns of value, as the Hippies were? I can feel there's answer to this question, but it's still just out my reach.
Thanks for your thoughts!
