Hi Steve
A very good point and quote. Clearly as Bo suggests we
have been very dominated by the S-O cut, but there
are other cuts, and I hope that is what we are here to explore.
Intellect is dominated by analysis (cutting up) and the SO version,
partly Pirsig suggests we look at other cuts and get away from SO
dominance, partly he tells us that his cut puts all patterns (SQ) on one
side of the cut and DQ on the other is very useful. This is a stroke of
genius because
the DQ side has nothing cutable on its side, it is like cutting an
apple-universe along
its tangent, hence DQ is close to nothing, and the source of all suchness
that is
cutable, creative, aware, the transcendent I would suggest.
regards
David M
